YHN-KHE-0996通常被描述为一个西班牙裔的，身高约在1.85米的成年男性人类。在正常情况下，该异常一般会在智利－阿根廷边境地区的安第斯山基督像附近游荡，并与周围前来参观的游客进行互动。根据目击过YHN-KHE-996的协会成员和游客描述，该异常的面貌“与基督像上的异常相像”。据目击者称，该异常会为游客讲解安第斯山基督像的历史，并为有困难的游客提供帮助，此外，该异常还会呼吁前来参观的游客们“共同维护世界的和平与繁荣。”在由智利政府与协会共同组织的一次社会调查中，参观的游客中有接近80%都出现了极强的和平主义倾向，许多游客在随后参与到了多场反战运动之中。

此外，YHN-KHE-0996还会出现在全球各地有关和平问题的各类国际会谈中。有关该异常的最早一次目击报告是在1946年1月17日于英国伦敦威斯敏斯特教堂大楼举行的联合国安理会第一届会议；此后的1947—2011年的这段时间内，该异常频繁地出现在联合国安理会及联合国大会会场，主要包括数次中东战争、刚果问题、索马里问题、南斯拉夫问题等多个有关地区和平的重大议题的会场中。此外，该异常还被证明出现在了拉美无核区问题的多个国际会议上，包括第十八届联合国大会与拉丁美洲非核化筹备委员会于墨西哥城特拉特洛尔科区召开的全体会议。

目击者描述及监控录像影像表明，YHN-KHE-0996出现时会伴随激烈的强光，与此同时，会场上的人员会听到诸如《主如明亮晨星》《渔人的渔夫》等著名天主教弥撒曲。随后，YHN-KHE-0996会出现并站在会场中央或是演讲台上，向会议人员礼貌地索要话筒。该异常会开始时长约5到20分钟不等的演讲，演讲内容均以塑造和平与繁荣为主。演讲完毕后，该异常会向与会人员鞠躬，并从正门走出会场，最终在会场外围于强光中消失。

根据协会对YHN-KHE-0996出现过的所有国际会议的统计，这些国际会议的会议平均时长会是同类会议平均时长的65%，并且会议成果较其他同类会议更为显著。根据协会外交部、科研部等部门研究，该异常除对国际局势、各类历史知识及各种外交辞令异常熟练之外，还有可能具备影响人类心智的能力，以促进与会人员能够更加快速高效地推动会议进程，维护各地和平。
为防止YHN-KHE-0996造成过于激烈的社会反响，经协会外交部与各国政府的协商，于1960年起决定所有的国际会议在YHN-KHE-996出现的情况下需要删减会议录像，对于YHN-KHE-0996相关的录像、语言描述记录等均进行封存。

在2011年有关叙利亚内战问题的一场位于开罗的国际峰会中，YHN-KHE-0996出现并进行了一次演讲，随后走出会场。随即，一名原计划刺杀叙利亚外长的阿拉伯裔青年对其开枪，致其中枪倒地。据目击者称，现场出现了明显的血迹。医务人员赶到并准备对YHN-KHE-0996进行抢救，但该异常已在强光中消失。多个拉丁美洲国家对该事件予以了强烈谴责。
